With reference to the previous post...wireless charging! i can say that this concept is gaining heat. Worlds leading seller of mobile handset chips is working on similar concept. Interesting thing is that as a close partner to many OEMs, ODMs qualcomm enjoys the credibility and got the power to leverage their relationships in driving the products similar to this which are closely related to embedded devices. Major advantage is that as the chipmaker sells about 60 million silicons per quarter, it will be easy for them to latch on to this market, by integrating the eZone solution to the chips they sell. Ofcos only when the OEMs are convinced with qualocmm's solution!!
Surely if Qualcomm eyes this as an oppurtunity one of the following might be the case -
1. Either Qualcomm wanna drive this big.
2. Or Qualcomm predicts that this area is destined to get big and they jumped in..!
Anyways initial entry to this market is by powermat (http://www.pwrmat.com/) . Its wait and watch until both grow as rivals in this business or the biggie acquires [ as it happens usually! ;) ..... Oops now a days law suits are order of the day, restrictive trade practices caution!! Beware Qualcomm :) ]

Charge your mobile, wireless..? S !!
Lately israel is in news for its attack on Gaza. But thats not the only one in the list of things, what israel can best execute. Yes, Israel is emerging as a hub for innovative technology based startups. If you wanna argue on this, please hang on till you read the whole post.... then if you still want to, just let me know.;)
Have you ever felt your so called wireless stuff, actually do get wired often. Yeah ofcos if you want to feed them you need to wire them up, rght! So why not make that wireless too.
Ok let me mesmerize you! Here it goes...Wireless power.
Yeah you heard it right, "wireless power".Powermat is the company behind this commercialized technology. Right now products are out in the market, using this. It extends to the range of mobile charging stuff to grinders, other home appliances etc. If you don't believe it, just check in here and you will be surprised, how it can revolutionize the way we deal with powering up the frequently used gadgets. Interesting part is that it is completely safe and power transmission is only to targeted devices. Yep, it uses some kind of close range wireless protocol for initial handshake to determine targetdevice. The basic technique underlying the power transmission is Magnetic induction.
Apart from this, what all makes this stuff interesting is that the way gadgets look more appealing. Imagine your cell phone getting charged up just by placing it on a table. Your Ipod getting refreshed while it rests..No strings attached ;) sounds cool rght! Atleast it seems so, and its always worth trying. Hope, if every thing works out fine, further semicons should embrace this solution and integrate it into some of their devices.
